Exploration of minerals: agathes and amethysts starts with a short introductory lecture. The old quarry is a picturesque place. It’s often hot in here in summer!

Description

workshops are conducted by Marcin Jaśkiewicz – a geologist by profession and passion
a short explanation, where agathes and amethysts came from in the Land of Extinct Volcanoes
demonstration of rocks, in which agathes occur, and ways of agathes’ exploration
demonstration of agathe nodules from various sites where they occur
explanation by the example of the panorama of the Katshava Mountains and Foothills why the region is called the Land of Extinct Volcanoes
a trip with a guide by your own cars to the closed quarry (10km one way), agathes’ exploration (about 1,5h)
the person conducting the workshops will provide you with protective goggles and hammers
demonstration of cutting, sanding and polishing of agathes, volunteers can try to process agathes they found on their own
in sunny weather, each participant should have a hat and water
I recommend taking a linen bag for collected rocks

Quartz in a rock egg found in melaphyre. Sometimes if you are lucky, you may find purple amethyst inside the egg. Minerals’ exploration takes place in different settings, sometimes it is an old quarry, sometimes a field, and sometimes a forest.

a trip with a guide by your own cars to the closed quarries near Wojcieszow (about 20 km in total)
a meeting with rocks building the bottom Rhea’s primordial ocean that date about 500 million years ago and these youngest ones, formed from the melting ice sheet thousands years ago
during these workshops, you will have an opportunity to collect a set of several interesting Sudetic rocks
the person conducting the workshops will provide you with protective goggles and hammers

no one comes back with an empty backpack

you may have your agathes sanded and polished for the additional fee, you may pick them up on the next day
