Stara Kopalnia w Wałbrzychu

Old Mine in Wałbrzych – Science and Art Centre. The last wagon of coal left the former Julia mine in 1996.

    Saturday – Sunday 10 am. – 6 pm. (the last admission at 4 pm.)
    Monday – Friday 10 am. – 5 pm. (the last admission at 3 pm.)
  • visiting time with a guide about 100 minutes
  • admission at every full hour


  • the unique complex of mainly mining buildings
  • objects you can visit: chain bath house, lamproom, forge, engine room, underground adit, observation tower
  • warm clothes are necessary in the undergrounds (9 degrees C, 97% humidity), where you spend about 20 minutes
  • Old Mine is part of the European Route of Industrial Heritage
  • there are art galleries within the Old Mine complex presenting: ceramics, painting, sculpture (admission is free)
  • there is Sztygarówka Cafe at the Old Mine premises, open from 10am. to 6pm.

The entrance building used to serve as a mining school. Currently, there is a cafe, ticket office and library.
