Since 1998, cities have defined themselves as one urban organism: Europe-City of G\u00f6rlitz-Zgorzelec <\/li>\n<li>G\u00f6rlitz is the city with the highest concentration of monuments in Germany \u2013 there are approx. 4000. Thanks to them, a walk through the streets of the city is a journey in time. Historical buildings are among the best preserved in Central Europe <\/li>\n<li>family-friendly zoo<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schlesisches-museum.de\/pl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Silesian Museum<\/a> \u2013 a must-see on the city&#8217;s sightseeing route, allows you to understand the historical complexities of this multicultural region<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goerlitz-miasto.pl\/Das_Goerlitzer_Hallenhaus.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hall houses<\/a> \u2013 an architectural style typical of the city lying on the via regia trade route<\/li>\n<li>The city&#8217;s major cultural events:<br \/>\nJazz Days<br \/>\nInternational Street Theatre Festival Via Thea<br \/>\nSilesian Pottery Market<br \/>\nG\u00f6rlitz Old Town Festival and Jakuby Zgorzelec<br \/>\nSilesian Christmas Market<\/li>\n<li>built by Eugenio Casparini at the end of the seventeenth century <a href=\"https:\/\/pl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ko%C5%9Bci%C3%B3%C5%82_farny_%C5%9Bw._Piotra_i_Paw%C5%82a_w_G%C3%B6rlitz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Solar Organ<\/a> in the church of St. Peter and Paul can imitate the voices of birds <\/li>\n<li>the most famous inhabitant of the city in the world is <a href=\"https:\/\/pl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jakob_B%C3%B6hme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jacob B\u00f6hme<\/a> (1575\u20131624), a shoemaker, theosophist, mystic who developed the theory of &#8220;the unity of man and nature&#8221;. It inspired successive generations of thinkers and poets: Goethe, Leibnitz, Adam Mickiewicz, Czes\u0142aw Mi\u0142osz, Tadeusz R\u00f3\u017cewicz. Jakub B\u00f6hme&#8217;s house is located on the Polish bank of the Neisse River, his grave in the Nikolaifriedhof cemetery in G\u00f6rlitz  <\/li>\n<li>location on the Oder &#8211; Nysa \u0141u\u017cycka cycling route \u2013 this 630 km long trail is one of the ten most popular cycling routes in Germany<\/li>\n<li>in the pre-war Goerlitz-Moys, and now in Zgorzelec, in the Stalag VIIIA POW camp, the outstanding French composer Oliver Messiaen was imprisoned. Under the influence of hunger and omnipresent death, he composed the apocalyptic &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/zYpBHc8px_U\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quartet at the End of Time<\/a>&#8220;, played for the first time on January 15, 1941 in front of the camp audience.
