{"id":82281,"date":"2022-03-05T08:49:38","date_gmt":"2022-03-05T07:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.villagreta.pl\/guide\/zrodlo-laby\/"},"modified":"2022-03-05T08:49:38","modified_gmt":"2022-03-05T07:49:38","slug":"zrodlo-laby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.villagreta.pl\/en\/guide\/nature\/zrodlo-laby\/","title":{"rendered":"Elbe Source"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>The source of the Elbe River (Czech: <em lang=\"cs\">Labe,<\/em> German: <em lang=\"de\">Elbe<\/em>), the beginning of the largest river in the Czech Republic and one of the largest in Germany, is located at an altitude of 1387 m above sea level near the Polish-Czech border, about a kilometer from Labsk\u00fd \u0161t\u00edt (Elbe Peak).<\/li>\n<li>The Elbe is 1165 kilometers long. Along its course, it flows through Pardubice, Hradec Kr\u00e1lov\u00e9, Dresden, Hamburg, among others, and near the city of Cuxhaven, it flows into the North Sea.  <\/li>\n<li>on site, you will find a stone circle, which is a symbolic starting point of the river. The actual source is located 300 meters to the west and is not accessible to visitors. <\/li>\n<li>there are also tables and benches where you can rest. Next to it is a stone wall with 26 mosaic coats of arms of the cities through which the Elbe flows. <\/li>\n<li>while you&#8217;re there, it&#8217;s worth extending your route and heading to the Elbe Waterfall, which is 1.5 km away (less than a 30-minute hike). You&#8217;ll reach it by following the red trail, then turning onto the blue trail. Along the way, you&#8217;ll pass a well-known Czech mountain hut &#8211; Labsk\u00e1 bouda.  <\/li>\n<li>many important hiking trails intersect at the Elbe source. Within a 30-minute hike, you&#8217;ll find yourself at the iconic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villagreta.pl\/en\/guide\/schronisko-pod-labskim-szczytem\/\">&#8220;Pod \u0141abskim Szczytem&#8221; mountain hut<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villagreta.pl\/en\/guide\/sniezne-kotly\/\">\u015anie\u017cne Kot\u0142y<\/a> are less than an hour away. <\/li>\n<li>the shortest and easiest route starts in Szklarska Por\u0119ba, from where you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.villagreta.pl\/en\/guide\/active\/ski-lift-giant-mountains\/\">take the cable car up to Szrenica<\/a>. Then, follow the green, and later the red trail. At the intersection near Czeska Budka (Czech: <em>\u010cesk\u00e1 budka<\/em>), turn onto the Czech Path marked in yellow. The entire 3-kilometer route with 119 meters of elevation gain can be completed in about an hour.   <\/li>\n<li>an alternative, more difficult and longer route to the Elbe source starts in Jagni\u0105tk\u00f3w (<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/36gJsCd7QPrQj8ncA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PARKING<\/a>), then follows the blue trail all the way to the crossroads at Czarna Prze\u0142\u0119cz. At the intersection, follow the red trail leading to \u015anie\u017cne Kot\u0142y. Once at the summit, turn onto the yellow trail, which will take you directly to your destination.
