- The Mountain Hut Under Łabski Peak (German: Alte Schlesische Baude) is one of the oldest, most popular, and best-located mountain huts in the Karkonosze Mountains
- It is located on a mountain pasture below Łabski Peak at an altitude of 1168 m above sea level. It was built between 1618 and 1648, initially serving as a shelter for shepherds and travelers. After a fire in 1914, the building was rebuilt, and another one was added soon after.
- From the mountain hut, you can see Szklarska Poręba, the Jelenia Góra Valley, the Izerskie Mountains, and with very good visibility, even the outlines of distant Ostrzyca
- The mountain hut offers accommodation in 1, 2, 4, or 6-person rooms, and there is also a kitchen serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Power outages often occur at the peak, so if you plan to stay overnight, remember to bring a good flashlight.
- This place is an excellent base for exploring the Karkonosze Mountains. It lies at the intersection of many hiking trails, and a ski slope runs nearby.
- About 1.5 hours from the mountain hut are the Śnieżne Kotły – one of the best viewpoints in the Karkonosze Mountains, and about a 1-hour hike away is the Source of the Elbe, which is the longest river in the Czech Republic and one of the largest in Germany (where it is called Elbe). From the mountain hut, you can reach the Szklarka Waterfall in 1.5 hours via a direct trail.
- The route we propose starts in Szklarska Poręba, from where you can take the cable car up to Szrenica. From the upper station, you will reach the mountain hut in about 1.5 hours via a picturesque green trail. It is not demanding and will not pose problems even for the youngest hikers :-)
- Alternatively, you can start your hike by visiting the Szklarka Waterfall (PARKING), and then taking the blue trail, you will reach the Mountain Hut directly in about 3 hours. The total elevation gain on this route is 635 m.
